Local Spark: Torbay Community Supported Enterprise CIC are excited to announce a new shared workspace in Paignton to support the growing social economy in Torbay. On Thursday 8th February, Torbay’s Social Enterprise Network (TSEN), set up and run by Local Spark, came together to celebrate the launch of the Social Economy Hub, including social enterprises Artizan Collective, Gaia Coffee, Tonic Creatives, Moor to Sea, We Need Music, Torbay Climate Action, Jazz Hands, I Can Do That, and South Devon Players.

The Social Economy Hub, is a vibrant space within historic Parkfield House. People’s Parkfield CIC was set up to take on the running of the heritage building, creating vibrant spaces to connect, work and thrive. The last residents were the daughters of a successful local business owner, who left Parkfield for the benefit of the children, young people and residents of Paignton in his will. Local Spark Torbay, who run TSEN, are offering events, workshops, and other activities. Multiple rooms of the house have been opened up for social enterprises and charities, to hire the offices, shared workspace, and meeting rooms.

Who will be in the Social Economy Hub?

TSEN is a growing community of around 60 social enterprises in Torbay tackling issues in the bay around public health and social care, wellbeing and mental health, waste and recycling, poverty, inclusion and more. For as little as £35 (or free to early stage start-ups), TSEN members can access 121 mentorship, discover funding opportunities, and build networks. TSEN will be providing free and low cost desk space to members in the Social Economy Hub. Become a member here.

The Social Economy Hub is open to anyone working toward building a social or green economy. Desks are just £15 a day or £100 per month.
